We were absolutely thrilled to host our very first Lancashire SENCO Briefing and Development Event, it was a great afternoon! Set in the beautiful surroundings of the Crow Wood Hotel, the venue provided the perfect backdrop for a day of collaboration and learning,
SENCOs from across the county gathered to share insights, challenges, and successes from their schools. It was fascinating to explore the variety of approaches to SEND provision between districts – a reminder that even within the same region, there’s no one-size-fits-all solution when it comes to supporting neurodiverse children.
One of the highlights of the day was our in-depth discussion on Trauma Informed Practice. We explored how this vital framework can be adapted to fit the unique context of each school, with real-life examples and actionable strategies that attendees were eager to take back to their settings.
From there, things got energetic with a hands-on training session on sensory circuits. Our delegates rolled up their sleeves (and got out of their chairs!) to take part in their own sensory circuit, proving that you don’t need a sports hall or expensive equipment to deliver effective sensory input in your classroom. Sometimes, all it takes is a little creativity and a clear understanding of your pupils’ needs.
We wrapped up the day with an informal networking and Q&A session, giving attendees the opportunity to pick our team’s brains, whether as a group or one-to-one. It was brilliant to see so many thoughtful questions, shared experiences, and practical ideas being exchanged.
We were blown away by the fantastic feedback we received, along with some greatsuggestions for topics you'd like us to cover in the future. Rest assured, we’re already putting plans in motion for our next event!
If you missed out this time, don’t worry, we’ve got more in store. Check out our Events Page to see what’s coming up next, we’d love to see you there.
